Prayer for the Community of Tumbler Ridge

Peace Dove

February 11, 2026

Edmonton Catholic Schools joins the community of Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia, the Tumbler Ridge Secondary School community, and School District No. 59 (Peace River South) in mourning the tragic events of February 10. We offer our prayers to all those affected. Additionally, flags at our schools and Division sites have been lowered to half-mast.

On Tuesday, police confirmed that multiple lives were lost following a tragic act of violence connected to Tumbler Ridge Secondary School. Amid profound sorrow and heartbreak, we unite in prayer and reflection. We remember those who have died, and hold their families and loved ones, their community, and all those affected by this devastating tragedy close in our hearts.

Loving Father, you sent your Son into the world to redeem us by his Cross and Resurrection. In our sadness, we come before you. In our despair, we lean on you. We ask for the courage and strength to heal the moments of stress and grief in our lives. Send your Holy Spirit to bring light to the darkness, comfort to the weary, and peace to the violence.

In solidarity with the community of Tumbler Ridge, and through the intercession of our Most Blessed Mother, Mary, the Mother of God, we ask you to guide and protect us: “Hail Mary, Full of Grace, The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of death. Amen.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen. May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

Amen.
